Fruits up to 20 kg with firm, juicy flesh.
Late-maturing variety: 125–130 days from emergence to full ripeness. The plant is vining. The fruit is round, segmented, smooth, dark orange with a pattern of creamy spots. Weight 4–6 (up to 18–20) kg. The flesh is orange, medium-firm and moderately juicy. Fruits have good transportability and keeping quality.
Used baked or boiled, and for making purées and juices.

Cultivation.
The best soils for pumpkin are sandy loam and light loam. Sow pumpkin when the soil warms up to +10…+12°C. Plant seeds 5–10 cm deep. Sow 2–3 seeds per hole.
After emergence, remove weaker plants. Pumpkin can also be grown through seedlings and transplanted outdoors at one month of age (2–3 true leaves stage). Long-vining varieties are sown in rows with 1.4×1.0 m spacing. Bush types are sown in a square-nest pattern with 80×60 cm spacing.
Plant care includes pinching side vines, pinching the main stem (after several fruits have set), watering, weeding, loosening the soil, and regular feeding.
Harvest as fruits ripen.
Growing tips: for normal ripening, leave 2–3 fruit sets per plant and pinch the vines. If the soil becomes too wet in autumn, place flat stones under the fruits to help them ripen properly. Finish harvesting before frost.

Family: Cucurbitaceae.
Requirements: heavy fruits of giant pumpkin are sometimes grown just for fun, to set a new record. Its nutrient needs are mainly covered by compost.
Planting is best done close to a compost pile. The roots absorb nutrients that seep into the soil without harming the compost quality.
As it grows, the large pumpkin leaves provide welcome shade for the compost heap. Planting near compost also ensures the plant gets enough солнечной energy.
Pumpkin needs warmth, so it should be planted in a sheltered sunny spot. If grown in a bed, humus-rich soil with plenty of compost is most favorable.
Sowing: similar to cucumbers — direct sowing in a pot. At +20°C the plant germinates quickly and grows vigorously.
To obtain especially strong young plants, place 3 seeds in a pot filled halfway with soil, let the strongest seedling grow, then fill the pot with soil to the top.
Sowing should not be done earlier than mid-April. Direct sowing outdoors can be done from mid-May, but using film cover is recommended.
Planting out: before planting in open ground, young plants must harden to new conditions. At this time they are particularly sensitive to cold. Planting can be done in late May. Pumpkin space requirements are impressive: at least 1×1.5 m per plant.
Fertilizing: if planted close to a compost pile, extra fertilization is usually unnecessary. Pumpkin nutrient needs are similar to cucumbers. Manure incorporated in autumn provides a good base. Before planting and then два times during growth, organic fertilizers are added to promote larger fruit development. Plant-based fertilizers such as nettle can also be used.
Care: pumpkin water demand is extremely high, as a lot of moisture is used to build leaf mass and, above all, the fruit.
Adequate soil moisture is essential. Loosening is needed only at the beginning; once the leaves cover the ground, it is no longer necessary.
Sometimes it is recommended to cut shoots when they reach 60–70 cm, but this is not advised. However, if exceptionally large fruits are desired, the tips of the shoots can be trimmed.
Harvest: to obtain the largest and ripest fruits, keep the plants on the bed as long as possible.
Only after the first ночные frosts is pumpkin considered fully mature. It can be stored for several weeks in a cool place and even frozen.
Biological protection: not required. In prolonged влажная weather, powdery mildew may appear. Remove affected leaves.

Young pumpkin blossoms (washed and thoroughly dried)
125 g wholemeal flour
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 egg whites
salt to taste.
Mix the flour with olive oil and add water to make a thick batter.
Chill the batter in the refrigerator for a long time before use.
Before frying, stir egg whites into the batter.
Dip the blossoms into the batter, shake off excess, and fry in горячее oil until lightly pink.
